What are the “Data Blitz breakouts”?
A data blitz is a quick, concise presentation of research findings. Here, it will be 5 slides presented in 5 minutes. These concise and efficient talks are intended to grab the attention of the audience, convey key information, and allow for several presenters to share their ideas in a brief period of time.
IMPORTANT: This year, the data blitz presentations will be prerecorded approximately 2 weeks before the conference. Talks have been grouped together into themes (4-5 talks per group). Attendees will have access to the talks 10-14 days prior to the conference. Attendees will be invited to select a theme and listen to that group of talks in advance of attending pre-determined break-out sessions during the conference. During the conference itself, presenters will attend a break-out session (30 minutes) with the other speakers in each theme. There will be a moderator who will facilitate a question and answer period with the presenters and attendees. There will be a break-out session on each day including three concurrent themes (i.e., attendees can select 1 of 3 themes of talks to attend the Q & A on each day).
Poster Session Information?
IMPORTANT: This year, there will be a virtual poster session held on both days of the
conference (each session will be 45-60 minutes). The poster session will be hosted on an
interactive online platform (gather.town) such that presenters will be expected to be “beside”
their poster to answer questions from attendees in real-time. Posters will be available for
viewing throughout the conference, but presenters of even-numbered posters should be at
their poster during the poster session on Day 1 (Oct. 15) and presenters of odd-numbered
posters should be at their poster during the session on Day 2 (Oct. 16). The platform is
integrated with audio and video so you will be able to “see” and talk to each other during the
session!
